Chopped is the visual depiction of killing oneself in pursuit of perfection.
Through this collection, you will be given a glimpse of the agonizing journey of shedding ones old self in order to evolve. It is an ugly yet beautiful process which takes a lot of inspiration from the song and music video “Pagan Poetry” by Björk. The graphic depictions of skin mutilation, juxtaposed with the natural beauty of pearls is a contrast that also exists within the process of becoming new.
Through this collection, the techniques of wet molding, hand stitching, hand dyeing, mold making, casting, sculpting, and leather pressing are all being explored. Not only to master these skills of craftsmanship, but to also showcase the beauty of what the mind and body can create.
